Experience
I am a school-based speech pathologist who has worked with students in grades K through 12. I have a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Communication Sciences and Disorders that I earned in 2012. I then moved on to Saint Xavier University, where I completed a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology in 2014. After graduating, I worked for a special educational cooperative. Now I work with the charter school system in Chicago. My experience as a speech pathologist is useful because my clinical skills give me the ability to break down concepts to fundamental levels with the students that I tutor. I help students grasp concepts in a way that helps them understand the "how" and "why" so that they can come up with the right answers on their own in the future. This method helps students generalize across questions effectively and learn information thoroughly. I tutor a variety of subjects, including pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, reading, writing, phonics, literature, and public speaking. I also help students prepare for tests such as the ACT, PARCC, ISAT, and MAP. When I'm not working, I enjoy yoga, cooking, running, and volunteering. I also love dogs and hope to train a dog as a partner in animal-assisted therapy services one day.
